Stepping Into September

Sitting here tonight, reflecting on the past months, there’s something about September that feels like a deep breath. The mornings greet me with cool air, a bit of dew on the flowers, and a light that’s starting to shift—softer, golden, and more gentle than the bright, busy days of summer. Out in the field, the fall sunflowers are standing tall, as if they know this is their moment to shine. The dahlias are bursting with color too, and every time I walk past them, I can’t help but pause a little longer.
Looking back, summer was full. There were endless days of watering, heat that lingered too long, and pests that always seemed to find their way onto the farm. Some days tested my patience, others my perseverance. But truthfully, it never feels like hard work when you love what you do. Even the toughest days carried joy—watching the fields grow, seeing each bud open, and knowing those blooms would soon be gathered into your homes, weddings, celebrations, and sometimes even to remember those who meant so much to us.
What I love about September is that it’s both an ending and a beginning. Summer flowers are fading, but fall is just waking up. I find myself slowing down a little, noticing details I might have rushed past in July, and appreciating the rhythm of the farm in a new way. The colors are deeper and there’s a sense of calm that only this season brings.
Through all of it—you’ve been here. Picking up bouquets, joining me for workshops, sending kind words, and cheering me on through every season. That support means more than I can ever fully put into words. This farm wouldn’t be the same without you, and I carry that gratitude with me every day.
So here we are, stepping into fall together. I’m excited for the cozy colors, the abundant dahlias, and the golden glow of September. Thank you for walking through the seasons with me—it’s such a gift to share the farm’s journey with you.
With gratitude,
Kelly
