The Words We Carry With Us

For many years, I worked in dispatch.
Words mattered there.
Sometimes they were urgent. Sometimes they were reassuring. Sometimes they were simply the calm voice someone needed in an uncertain moment.
And most of the time, I never knew what happened after the call ended.
I heard only one small part of someone’s story. I offered what help I could, sent the right people, and then the line went quiet.
I often wondered how things turned out.
That stayed with me.
These days, my work looks very different, but in some ways, it feels familiar.
I grow the flowers, harvest and arrange them, place them in the stand, and watch them leave with people whose stories I may never know.
I do not always know where the flowers go, whose table they sit on, or what moment they become part of.
They may celebrate a birthday, welcome someone home, bring comfort, honor a memory, or simply brighten an ordinary day.
Then, every now and then, someone leaves a note at the stand.
A thank-you.
A kind thought.
A few simple words about what the flowers meant to them.
And for a moment, I get to know a little more of the story.
That is what makes those notes so meaningful to me.
For so many years, I wondered what happened after the call ended.
Now, I sometimes wonder what happens after the flowers leave.
In both parts of my life, I have learned that we do not always get to see the full impact of what we give.
Sometimes we offer a calm voice.
Sometimes we offer flowers.
Sometimes we simply show up and hope that what we have given reaches the person who needs it.
Most of the time, we may never know.
But every once in a while, someone takes the time to tell us.
A note. A message. A few kind words.
A reminder that what we did mattered.
That is part of what I hope this farm offers—not only flowers, but connection.
A place where someone can choose a bouquet for a person they love.
A place where flowers can say what words sometimes cannot.
A place where kindness can be passed from one person to another.
Life changes, and the work we do may change with it, but some things remain the same.
Words still matter.
Kindness still matters.
And taking a moment to let someone know they made a difference still matters.
To everyone who has left a note, sent a message, shared a kind word, or supported this little flower farm, thank you.
You may have written only a few words.
But sometimes, those few words are the part of the story I love to hear.

I love your blog! So inciteful🌸🌷🌺
